* B.R. name applied after 1943

Steel-bodied mineral wagons were of four broad types:

16-ton; 9'-wheelbase

16-ton; 10'-wheelbase

21-ton; 12'-wheelbase

24˝-ton; 12'-wheelbase

All were branded 'COAL' with the capacity as a suffix. 'MIN' and 'MINFIT' (for the fitted version) were unofficial variants. 'MIN XX' (or LOCO-for locomotive coal) was applied; however; to the 21-ton version.
